Rip Curl Groms Shred New Smyrna Beach, FL

Sunday, August 18, 2009, the Rip Curl Grom Search Fueled by H2O Overdrive™ finished off the series in style.  

Congratulations to all of the young Groms who came out to New Smyrna Beach, FL, to shred!  A special shout out to, Corey Howell, who won the H2O Overdrive™  Maneuver of the Event, winning the cash and the glory.  Surfline.com posted some great photos of the event, CLICK HERE to see them.

The day was great, with some surf popping up overnight to give the Groms a shot at showing their stuff to a great crowd for the Sunday event.  As the early morning haze burned off and the day got hotter, so did the competition.  

Through a series of different heats the Groms carved up the waves until the judges narrowed the field down to four finalists in each division.  Finally, the skilled youngsters who won their divisions earned a spot to compete at the National Finals.  They included, Chelsea Roett for the Girls 16/Under; Justin Croteau, Boys 12/Under; Corey Howell, Boys 14/Under; and Evan Gieselman, Boys 16/Under. 

H2O Overdrive™ was there to support the event and hand out ice cold H2O Overdrive™ to all of the participants and spectators. Eric B. Delisle, President of Overdrive Distribution Corp. was there answering questions about H2O Overdrive™, along with Amber and Paul Edinger.

"The entire event had a great vibe" commented Delisle about the Grom Search, "and everyone kept coming back for more H2O Overdrive™.  The parents were especially interested in finding a sports drink their kids liked that wasn't filled with sugar and stimulants like most other 'energy drinks'.  They [the parents] were really impressed with how much their young athletes liked it even though it only has 3 grams of sugar to a bottle."

The event also brought out pro surfer, Shea Lopez, to cheer on his younger brother Matthew Lopez.  The young Groms were having fun in the surf and on the land, with many of the Groms getting H2O Overdrive™ temp-tattoos and getting pictures taken with the cute girls helping out with the event.
